8 Things To Do in Kuta

Kuta is Bali’s most popular tourist destination and is especially popular with Australians thirsty for Bintang (the country’s beer). Kuta is a place for partying, surfing, tank tops with funny writings, burnt bodies turned pink, exotic-looking shopping malls, imitation shoes and clothes, cheap souvenirs, hotels and resorts on the beach.

Popular activities in Kuta include surfing, shopping, partying, watching sunset, visiting museums and parks, or you can use one of the many spas and spend some time relaxing and pampering yourself. Whatever you choose to do, there’s no chance of getting bored in Kuta, and even those with families will find plenty to enjoy at the Island of Gods.

  1. Enjoy Kuta Beach

If we talk about Kuta, the first thing that comes to mind is its beaches. The beaches of Kuta are long sandy beaches and they are very good to enjoy the beautiful nature and sunset.

The southwest coast of Bali is the area where you can see some of the most magical sunsets on the entire island. When the sun’s rays hide, the beach begins to fill with people playing soccer, guitar, the vendors go hunting and others simply wait to see nightfall. Sipping a cold Bintang and watching the sunset on the beach is one of the best things to do in Kuta.

Also one of the main reasons to come to Kuta Beach is the opportunity to surf, as it is the perfect spot for beginners since the bottom is sandy, rather than sharp coral, and there are generally waves or “foams” of a sufficient size for those who want to start.

  1. Nightlife

Kuta’s nightlife starts at sunset in the beach bars and ends in the bars and clubs. It is difficult to distinguish between bars and clubs, since the bars are transformed into clubs as the night progresses. Throughout the day there are many clubs that distribute flyers so that you can enter for free. Many of them make you offers in order to keep you for a while in their premises.

One of the best options is Sky Garden. Sky Garden is Kuta’s biggest nightclub with many different floors. The top floor, where the lounge is located, is a great place to come in the early evening when the sun is starting to set. You’ll get great views of Kuta from here and they’ll also run several buffet dinner deals where you can enjoy free drinks and food before the main party starts.

  1. Shop at Beachwalk

If you want to go shopping in Kuta, just look out for the Beachwalk, which runs along the main avenue adjacent to the beach.

The mall is one of the newest in the region and has everything you could want with a mix of international stores, restaurants, cafes, and even a rooftop bar with a DJ. On the terrace of the shopping center there are some stands with typical Indonesian food and around it is full of tables for you to eat, picnic style.

  1. Visit Waterbom Park

Waterbom Bali is one of the oldest attractions in Kuta and not to be missed, especially if you are traveling with children.

This is one of the biggest water parks in Bali and you’ll find a huge number of attractions here like the Boomerang and the Superbowl and if you’re feeling brave there are free-fall slides like Climax.

For younger children, there are also children’s pools and some restaurants where you can get snacks and light meals to keep you going throughout the day.

  1. Visit Kuta Theater

The Kuta Theater is one of the best new venues in Bali for those looking for activities with kids.

The theater consists of a series of stages and shows, where you can enjoy puppets and magicians shows.

There are also light drama performances, including the signature show Lights of Faith, which is based on a traditional story intertwined with modern touches.

The shows take place in the evening and you can also get dinner packages to dine while you watch.

  1. Have Fun at Pandora Experience Bali

Pandora Experience Bali explores the new hype in escape games. Teams of two to ten players are welcome.

The object of the game is to solve a series of riddles and puzzles to get out of the room in under two hours. This is a great way to spend an afternoon if the weather is bad or if you just want to give your brain a good chance to workout after many days relaxing on the beach.

  1. Visit Bali Sea Turtle Society

The Bali Sea Turtle Society is a Kuta-based turtle hatchery that works to protect turtle eggs and then release hatched turtles back into the wild. Every year between the months of May and September, The Bali Sea Turtle Society organizes sea turtle releases at Kuta Beach.

If you pay a donation at your own discretion, you can catch your own turtle and help it swim out to sea. It is a magical moment to see how these tiny turtles run towards the sea by their own instinct. They won’t come back to these beaches until they’re big and lay their own eggs. You can also learn more about the situation of turtles in Indonesia at the same time.

  1. Enjoy 5GX Bali Reverse Bungee

If you’re looking for an adrenaline-fueled tour of Kuta, head to the 5GX Bali Reverse Bungee.

Here you can sit on an elastic chair and be launched into the air at speeds that can reach 200 kilometers per hour.

Up to three people in your party can enjoy this at the same time and it’s not for the faint of heart, though if you can keep your eyes open you can enjoy some amazing views of Kuta while bungee jumping.
