Legian Beach is one of Bali’s most fun beaches, especially at sunset time! Legian is the area that stretches between Kuta and Seminyak and is easily identifiable by the many deck chairs and umbrellas that line the beach.
Known for having a great beginner and body boarding wave, surf lessons and board rentals are easy to arrange on the beach with one of the local beach bar operators. Our favorite surf lessons come from the boys at My Bar, which is located on the beach directly in front of the Legian Beach Hotel’s main beach entrance. We’ve even put a Bali Buddies umbrella there to help you find it! These boys will deliver fabulous one-on-one surfing lessons and have the coldest Bintangs on the beach!
For non-water lovers, Legian Beach can be a lot of fun for you too. It can also be a place to do all of your shopping without having to move! You will find everything on sale here – DVDs, makeup, clothing, wooden items, sunglasses, watches, kites, and more!
Come sunset time, the beach is packed and the sunsets are spectacular. There is a lot of food on offer, from local dishes to fresh fruit platters, delivery from the many nearby restaurants, fairy floss, and, of course, an abundance of cold drinks.
Legian is less hectic but still has a lot of captivating magic. Legian is ideal if you want to surf on a beautiful beach with fewer people than the neighboring Kuta beach. Not only does the beach provide the perfect sunset, but it’s also the melting pot of unique shops, culinary delights, and vibrant nightlife venues. With rows of exclusive five-star hotels, a huge waterpark, and a local art market, Legian is an enjoyable place for family holidays. The internationally known Rip Curl School of Surf is one of the must-visit places to learn more about how to ride the waves from experts with a world-class reputation. The calmer atmosphere of Legian beach ensures a suitable learning environment for beginners.
The Legian art market is where you will find knick-knacks of Balinese handmade crafts and souvenirs. Remember to calmly haggle for the best price on your favorite find. Cafes and dining places for the pleasure of your tastebuds are easy to find anywhere in Legian, serving a long list of menus, from Balinese cuisine to international cuisine’s finest dishes. Explore and taste them all according to what suits your mood.
If you plan to stay around here for a leisurely, relaxed time, it’s best to just stroll around and make your way on foot. That way, you can find even more surprising spots and get up close and personal with the local Bali culture. Motorbike rentals are also available for daily use. Car rental and taxis with English-speaking drivers are on call should you need them.
From the airport, you will need around 20 minutes by car or taxi to arrive at Legian. If you leave from Kuta or the neighboring Seminyak area, you can just walk, bike, or drive there.
